Alexandria man arrested after alleged robbery at Target

ALEXANDRIA, La. (APD) - The Alexandria Police Department has arrested a man they say is responsible for robbing a woman at gunpoint in the Target parking lot Thursday afternoon.

Douglas Thomas, Jr. (APD)

Douglas Thomas, Jr., 50, of Alexandria, was identified as the suspect in the investigation.

Police thought they saw him on Wise Street Thursday night, but he fled the area. He was then spotted around 11:30 a.m. Friday morning and was tracked down to Martin Street. After a brief chase, he was taken into custody.

APD says he already had an active warrant for armed robbery.

A search of Thomas, Jr.'s home revealed evidence linking him to the Target robbery and a realistic-looking toy gun.

Thomas, Jr. was charged with first-degree robbery and the outstanding warrant.
