Alexandria man arrested after nursing home patient sent to hospital with burns

Marcus Casson (RPSO)

ALEXANDRIA, La. (RPSO) - RPSO deputies responded to a local hospital on February 9 in reference to a report of cruelty to the infirmed.

A patient from a local nursing home was reportedly admitted, suffering from first, second and third degree burns over a quarter of his body.

The Emergency Room Doctor said that the patient had what was believed to be injuries that were consistent with burns caused by a scalding liquid.

Sheriff’s detectives identified a suspect as Marcus L. Casson, 28, of Alexandria. Through their investigation, detectives were able to develop sufficient probable cause to obtain an arrest warrant for Casson.

On February 11, Casson was taken into custody without incident by members of the US Marshall's Violent Offender Task Force and booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center. Bond has not been set on the cruelty to the infirmed charge at the time of this release.
