Edward Conner, 29 of Alexandria, was arrested back in Dec. 2018 for a shooting on Baker Street in which Jazzlyn Fields, 32, was shot once and died. Conner was indicted for manslaughter.
According to the Alexandria Police Department, there was a verbal argument between Conner and his brother at the house and a gun was pulled. The brothers struggled over the gun, it was fired and the bullet struck Fields.
On Monday, Conner pleaded guilty to manslaughter and was sentenced by Judge Mary Doggett to four years with one year suspended. Afterward, he will be on supervised probation for two years.
The case was prosecuted by Kelvin Sanders. Conner was represented by Allen Smith.
