The crash occurred when another vehicle made a turn and struck the motorcycle, driven by Allan Murrell, 53, of Alexandria.

Emergency personnel responded to the scene, and Murrell was transported to a local hospital for treatment. However, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The investigating officers determined that the motorcycle was traveling in the left-hand lane of Casson Street and the other vehicle was traveling in the center lane.

The second vehicle, a 4-door car, made an improper left turn from the center lane, causing the crash.

Traffic investigators will obtain chemical samples from both drivers to test for intoxication.
