AFCO and the City of Alexandria announced on Monday that the company is buying a new 93,000 square feet building and adding 16 jobs with the expansion.

The employee-owned company is consolidating its Alabama plant to Alexandria.

The company currently manufactures aluminum columns and the new plant will focus on fiberglass.

"We are excited about moving that business here. It allows us to co-locate products the fiberglass and aluminum products to market under our AFCO columns and railings brand," said Don Fowler, President and CEO of AFCO.

"When you know the growth going on in Alabama and knowing they brought that plant from here from Alabama, I think it's really complementary to our area and our state. I think this shows what we can do in Alexandria," said Susan Broussard, Chief of Staff for the City of Alexandria.

AFCO says they plan on opening up the new facility in March of next year.
