PINEVILLE, La. (KALB) - A little tab can make a big difference, but what about 126 pounds of them?

Alpine Christian School students filled four boxes over the last month to help other kids in need.
This is a big feat for the small school of 138 students. Last year they collected 120 pounds but wanted to top that number this year.
"The students have been collecting tabs for maybe a month and a half," said Alpine eighth-grader Austin Mott. "I feel really accomplished and really happy for the money that we are going to raise."
They will donate the tabs to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. The collection is close to their hearts. It started small a few years back when some of their classmates needed to stay in the hospital.
"We would collect them in the office," said Alpine Principal Lisa Roberts. "We have students that go to either Shriners Hospital or to New Orleans. We usually send a jug with them."
Now, the school hopes they can fill even more boxes with tabs next year.
