Anacoco employee allegedly stole over $71,000 village funds
A recent Louisiana Legislative Auditor report found that a Village of Anacoco employee allegedly stole $71,205 of village funds over the past year.
The employee allegedly took several payroll checks that exceeded their salary. They also allegedly made personal charges on the village's credit card and took cash that was received at the village office.
Officials say that this individual is no longer an employee with the village. They have also not yet been identified. KALB reached out the Anacoco's Mayor, Keith Lewing, he declined to comment. Louisiana State Police told KALB that there currently is not an open investigation at this time.
