UPDATE: Escaped inmate from Rapides Detention Center 2 has been captured

ALEXANDRIA, La. (RPSO) - UPDATE: Anthony Lee Wells, who escaped Sunday night from the Rapides Detention Center #2, has been located and taken into custody.

ORIGINAL STORY:
An inmate who was being detained at the Rapides Detention Center #2 escaped Sunday night around 9:30 p.m.

RPSO says Anthony Lee Wells, 33, was being detained at the Detention Center on Allison Drive in Alexandria, in reference to serving time related to a previous conviction. Following the nightly headcount, Wells was discovered missing.

Wells is described as a white male, approximately 6 feet tall, weighs approximately 165 pounds, has brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a blue t-shirt and jeans.

Wells has previous convictions for burglary. He has no prior convictions of violent charges and is not considered dangerous at this time. However, Wells is considered an escapee and anyone assisting Wells will be charged accordingly.
