Escapee from Avoyelles Parish captured

AVOYELLES PARISH, La. (KALB) - UPDATE: According to Steve Martel with APSO, Wayne Kerry was captured in St. Landry Parish. Kerry will be brought back to Avoyelles Parish and charged with simple escape.

Deputy Moreau with the St. Landry Parish Jail said that Kerry entered the jail on February 11 around 2:20 p.m. stating he wanted to turn himself in.

Early Saturday morning, a probation and parole violator walked off from his transitional work program job at a Bunkie business. Wayne Deon Kerry, 25, was reported missing by the supervisory staff.

Kerry is described as a black male, 6'4" and 160 pounds. He has family ties in Melville and Lafayette. He was serving time for various property crimes, and was scheduled to be released in August.

Anyone with information about Kerry is asked to call the Avoyelles Parish Sheriff's Office at 318-253-4000, or your local law enforcement agency.
