You might have seen Tammy Beavers on Tunica Drive in Marksville selling watermelons in the storm.

She said she has been selling the Sugartown melons for a few years, even riding out other hurricanes. She said she has made a few sales but it’s slower than usual.

Still, she loves to meet new people who stop by the stand.

“I’ve got 10s, 12s, and the great big ones that are 14s,” Beavers said. “We don’t get a lot of 14s, they do ok, but mostly 10s and 12s sell better. But, I love it. I absolutely love it. You get to meet the public, and everyone’s really nice. It’s awesome. It’s really awesome.”

Beavers said once the rain gets too bad, she’ll call it a day.
