ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) - Avoyelles Parish teams battled for the paddle in Center Point on Saturday.
Oak Haven Community Care Center decided a jambalaya cook-off was the best way to help raise money for the American Cancer Society. Five judges tried the dishes, including KALB's Tom Konvicka.
There was also a bounce house, face painting and Kona Ice.
Organizers said it was a great first run for the cook-off.
"To be our first annual jambalaya cook off, I am very pleased," said Marketing Coordinator Katie Flook. "We had 14 teams sign up and 14 teams show up today. The community of Effie, Center Point, Deville really showed their face today. We are very thankful for our community."
A Relay for Life Walk is being held March 29 in Mansura.
