According to a release sent by Bunkie Police Chief Scotty Ferguson, board member Chris Robinson, Wyneka Washington, and Wanda Washington have been charged with simple battery.

BPD’s release stated that their officers responded to a report of a fight on Keller Street around 6:50 p.m. on Sept. 14.

Upon arrival, BPD said officers found a large group of people gathered in the street. They spoke with the witnesses that claim the incident originally started as a verbal argument between the three individuals over allegations against a juvenile before turning physical.

All three were taken into custody and transported to the Bunkie Police Department before being released on court orders from Bunkie City Court.

Robinson is the District 6 school board member, who represents a portion of the Bunkie area. He was elected to the board in November of last year.

News Channel 5 spoke with Robinson, and he said he was asked by his attorney not to speak on the incident but maintains his innocence in the matter. He also said he will be demanding a public apology from BPD for his arrest.
