Barry Erwin, President & CEO of The Council for A Better Louisiana, or CABL, spoke to the group Tuesday afternoon about the main issues for the session. He says taxes will take the front seat in the sessions, but he also talked about how unique this year is. 2019 brings a fiscal session without a budget crisis, and since it's an election year, he's expecting a big turnover of House Representatives.
"I think a lot of the things that are actually important issues during this session probably won't pass," Erwin said. "But they will have some discussion and debate about them, and I think that will lead into some election issues that I think, hopefully, people will be paying attention to."
Council for a Better Louisiana is a public policy group that focuses on government ethics, fiscal policy and education. Erwin is a former journalist, winning numerous awards for his political coverage in Baton Rouge and Shreveport in his 15-year broadcasting career.
