ALEXANDRIA, La. (RPSO) - A Bolton High School student has been arrested after authorities found a firearm in his possession at the school.
On August 26, administrators and the Deputy School Resource Officer at Bolton High School were notified that a juvenile student was believed to have a firearm.
Upon arrival, the student was detained. A semi-automatic pistol was located on the student, which was secured by the resource officer. The student was placed under arrest for carrying a firearm on school property and is currently being detained at the Renaissance Home for Youth in Alexandria.
Superintendent Jeff Powell said Bolton staff responded quickly and efficiently.
"Handled it per protocol," Superintendent Powell said. "Limited exposure to any danger to our students, and addressed the situation without creating any additional unsafe situations. So, we are very proud of the way that our administrators and our staff responded to that situation."
