ALEXANDRIA, La (KALB) - Several residents in the Cenla area coming together, Sunday morning to raise money for the VA Hospital in Pineville.
The Cenla USBC Bowling Association kicked off their tournament this weekend, charging a $20 entry fee. The tournament started at England Airpark Lanes, Saturday, and it will wrap up Sunday afternoon at Four Seasons Bowling Center. The USBC Bowling Association says they are out on a mission to raise money for the VA Hospital, and last year they collected $6,000 through their tournament.
"We try to give back to the community as much as we can, and all this money is going to the veterans," Billy King, the USBC president and part-owner of England Airpark Lanes said. "The hospital over there can really use our help, so any support anybody can give us is welcomed."
"As a veteran it makes me feel tremendous," Loyd Hall, a retired army veteran said. "Because without associations like this here, the veterans at the VA Hospital would not have as much stuff for entertainment as they do."
All veterans in attendance at Sunday's tournament also received a gift. The tournament will wrap-up around 6 p.m.
