Bus full of students plunges Into Alabama ravine

(NBC News) - A high school marching band's Spring Break trip to Disney World ended in tragedy early Tuesday when their charter bus returning to Houston, Texas crashed, killing the driver and seriously injuring dozens of passengers.

At around 5:30 a.m. the bus carrying members of a high school marching band from Channelview, Texas suddenly crossed the median and plunged into a ravine 50-feet below an interstate in Alabama.

The driver of the bus, Harry Caligone, died at the scene and the injured were taken to ten different hospitals in the region.

Of the injured, one was listed in critical condition, five were listed in serious condition and the others had minor injuries, according to authorities.

"From what I saw, thank God we're blessed and our students are better than what we anticipated," said Greg Ollis, Superintendent of Channelview Independent School District.
