CHRISTUS St. Frances Cabrini Hospital took a leap forward in technology when they introduced a communication device to their everyday patient care: a Vocera.
The purpose of this hands-free accessory is to improve communication from one department to another and from one staff member to another resulting in better patient care. Vocera ties in with the hospital's phone system and can also be used into a cell phone.
The little device, which the team said is revolutionizing their patient care, is now a part of every in-patient unit in the hospital. Nurses are so impressed with the devices, they are already planning on extending them to advanced practitioners as well.
Cabrini is the first hospital in Alexandria to use the Vocera devices.
