Catahoula man says he accidentally shot girlfriend in head, now charged with 2nd degree murder

CATAHOULA PARISH, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Update, Friday February 24, 2017 - The Catahoula Sheriff tells KNOE, 43-year-old Jonathan Scott Williamson is now charged with 2nd degree murder in the death of Shelley Mixon Waller.

Williamson told officers he accidentally shot his girlfriend. He's being held on $500,000 bond.

On Monday, around 10:20 p.m., a Harrisonburg Police officer was flagged down by a male subject. He was later identified as Jonathan Scott Williamson, 43, from Harrisonburg, Louisiana.

Williamson told the officer that he had just accidentally shot his girlfriend in the head with a 22 rifle.

The victim was identified as Shelley Mixon Waller, 44, from Harrisonburg. She was transported to the Rapides Medical Center in Alexandria, where she was on life support and later died from her injuries on Wednesday.

Detectives interviewed Williamson and other witnesses, which ended in warrants being obtained for the suspect for Attempted Manslaughter, but those charges are expected to be upgraded to Manslaughter. He was arrested and booked into the Catahoula Parish Jail late Tuesday evening.
