ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) - Another Black Friday has come and gone, but shopping didn't stop here in Central Louisiana.

Local businesses kept rolling for Small Business Saturday, it's a chance for the community to get out and support the small shops in the area.

Paula Katz with Security Sporting Goods said small businesses are the root of all communities.

“We're the guys who make everything happen in the community we support our local baseball teams, schools, and other charities in our community,” Katz explained. “It's kind of slower paced than Black Friday, and so a lot of our regular customers like to come in on Saturday, so we do still offer some specials and promotions, that are just for Small Business Saturday."

The Central Louisiana Chamber of Commerce gathered with small businesses Tuesday to explain why shopping small is important to create a thriving community.
