A change of venue request was granted for the Hanna Barker trial in Natchitoches Parish.

The Natchitoches Parish Journal reports Barker’s counsel believed publicity surrounding the case would make it difficult to find an unbiased jury.

Barker’s charged with first-degree murder for the burning death of her 7-month-old son, Levi Ellerbe.

The alleged murder took place in July 2018.

The trial will still take place in Natchitoches but the jury will come from another parish. A decision hasn’t been made on which parish.

Barker was indicted for first-degree murder, along with her girlfriend, Felicia Smith.

They both pleaded not guilty to the first-degree murder charges.

The remaining motions and research will be presented on Nov. 25.
