Town of Colfax completes repairs on leaking gas lines

COLFAX, La. (KALB) - UPDATE: The Town of Colfax has completed repairs on the leaking gas lines Friday that shut down multiple businesses and caused road closures.

The affected businesses are scheduled to reopen at 2 p.m. The Colfax Elementary School will remain closed for the day and will resume classes on Monday.

According to Grant Parish School Superintendent Paxton Teddlie, there is a gas leak in Colfax that is causing road closures in the area. Teddlie says Colfax Elementary students are being sent home.

The school will be sending text alerts to parents to pick up their kids. If there is no one available to watch the child, the child will be returned to the school.

GPSO says that the Post Office, Hyde's Treasures, Dixie Pharmacy, Wilkin's Insurance Agency, Colfax Banking Company, Hot Wheelz Used Cars, LSU Ag Center, and Fogleman's Sporting Goods are also being closed.

Public workers and outside contractors are currently assessing the situation.
