Community comes together in Avoyelles Parish to support Peter Fuqua
Earlier this week we told you the story of Peter Fuqua, an Echo man who suffered a massive heart attack. He's been through multiple surgeries, but now needs a heart transplant.
All day on Sunday folks from near and far gathered at Krazy Katie's Bar in Hessmer to support Fuqua and his family.
They sold more than one thousand plate lunches, received various donations, and had success in an auction. Not to mention one dollar from every beer sold went towards the cause.
One of the biggest supporters there was Central Louisiana’s own Swamp Boogie Band, who not only played a free show but also made donations.
They said it was heartwarming to see their community come together for someone in need.
"You never know when it's you time,” expressed Chris Lachney, Swamp Boogie Band member. “And when I brought this band together I said I need a favor. I said we need to go out and participate and give to these guys. And not once did these guys back down or say no. It was yes from day one. We stepped up and I can't thank these guys enough for making it happen. I'm really proud of them."
