Cottonport officer injured in high-speed chase

COTTONPORT, La. (KALB) - A high-speed chase in Avoyelles Parish led to a Cottonport officer being injured on Tuesday morning.

According to information published by Avoyelles Today, the chase started in the Cottonport area, involving both Cottonport police and the Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s Office. On Crackville Road, the officer hit a dip in the road and her vehicle flipped over.

Cottonport Police Chief Earnest Anderson told Avoyelles Today that the injured officer was assisted by bystanders and then airlifted to a hospital for medical treatment.

The suspect involved was reportedly taken into custody, according to eyewitnesses.
