A former DPS Police Officer was arrested after he falsely claimed that he was shot at by a motorcyclist.

On Monday, October 29, 2018, shortly after 6:00 pm, former DPS Police Officer Chandler LeGrange reported to LSP Communications his involvement with a pursuit and shots fired by a motorcyclist on Juban Road in Livingston Parish.

Numerous Troopers and local law enforcement officers responded to the scene and began a search for the reported suspect. During the investigation process, several inconsistencies began to surface regarding the sequence of events as reported by LeGrange.

Upon further investigation and questioning, Detectives determined the reported pursuit and shooting were fabricated by LeGrange. He was charged with malfeasance in office and filing false public records and booked into the Livingston Parish Jail this afternoon.

At the time of his arrest, LeGrange was a probationary employee with the Department of Public Safety Police and immediately terminated.
