ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) - It's once again time to get out and vote! The polls opened back up Saturday for the spring general election on April 28.
So far, the Registrar of Voters in Rapides said they have already had a better turn at this point then they did in the preliminaries.
By noon they had 100 voters come in.
While there are new additions on the ballot that may affect your pocketbook, there are also some important runoff elections as well.
Here in Rapides the big election is for the new Alexandria City Marshal. Current Interim City Marshal and Democrat Ricky Rachal is up against Republican Jerome Hopewell.
Over in Bunkie all eyes are on the race for the town's new Chief of Police. Current Police Chief Bobby Corner is up against Scott Ferguson.
We caught up with voters of all ages who say they are just doing their duty.
"You never know what is going to come up later, so it's always important when you have the time to use your time wisely and make sure you are doing things to better your community," said young voter Christine Jones.
Another voter agreed.
"It's our duty to come vote," said voter Rayburn Foster. "it's convenient to come out and do the early vote."
