ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) - A lack of funding for infrastructure in the U.S., specifically in Louisiana, is a hot topic these days. And as interest in investing in public infrastructure rises, England Airpark and AEX partnered with the Association for the Improvement of American Infrastructure to hold a P3 Airport Summit on Thursday.
Participants had the chance to learn more about opportunities public-private partnerships, or P3s, provide for economic development, specifically for funding infrastructure projects.
A panel of economic development experts and DOTD representatives examined successful P3 projects in other areas, and gave feedback on local funding ideas.
"The size of our infrastructure back log in the country is staggering, and it's going to take a lot of creativity to get to the other side of that and deliver on the needs of the country,” said Corporate President of HNTB Jim Ray. "And it's really about very clearly stating from the public sector standpoint what they need and how they'd like that delivered, and then really cutting the private sector loose to go and deliver on that."
