Family: Monday night shooting claims life of Alexandria 17-year-old
A Monday night shooting claimed the life of a 17-year-old near Carr and Bogan Streets in Alexandria.
According to witnesses at the scene, the victim was shot just before 10 p.m. The Alexandria Police Department said that the victim was shot multiple times. APD, AFD and Acadian Ambulance were on scene.
The victim was pronounced dead. Detectives and the crime scene unit were also called to investigate.
There is no word yet on whether any arrests have been made.
Family members told KALB that the victim also leaves behind one daughter.
The victim's uncle at the scene urged anyone with information to contact the police.
"The gun violence needs to stop," said Timothy Bowie, Sr., the victim's uncle. "Our young people are killing each other daily, and it needs to come to a halt now... and get the guns off the streets."
A stolen vehicle out of the Lafayette area was also recovered. APD says the investigation is ongoing.
