The annual race is all about suicide prevention awareness.
This year coordinators decided to add a little color to the festivities. At the start of the race runners threw purple and teal powder into the air and took off.
The course was set up around Fort Randolph and Buhlow State Historic Site in Pineville.
Once runners crossed the finish line, they could visit a variety of vendors at the health expo.
The National Guard makes sure to hold the event each year to help reduce the stigma surrounding suicide.
"It just brings our service members together with the community," said LANG Suicide Prevention Program Coordinator Amber Sayer. "We are the National Guard, so our service members work in the community, they live in the community. So, if we can spread the knowledge about suicide prevention and awareness, everywhere, all over the state, then that is our goal."
This was their third year holding the event.
