Former Rapides assistant DA, Camille J. Giordano, Sr., passes away

Camille J. Giordano, Sr., 72, of Alexandria, passed away on October 1.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Spubby and Katie Farace Giordano; sister, Rose Angela Giordano, and his son, Camille J. “Joey” Giordano, II.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Giordano, Sr. at 1:00 p.m. on October 4 at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral with Rev. Scott Chemino and Rev. Dan O’Connor officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park under the direction of John Kramer & Son Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning on Thursday, October 3, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.; with a recitation of the Holy Rosary in the Kramer Chapel at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will resume on Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.

District Attorney Phillip Terrell said, "Camille Giordano was a fine lawyer and a better friend. He will be missed by our community."

Camille graduated from Menard Memorial High School in 1965, Northwestern State University in 1969 and Southern Law Center in 1976. He practiced Law for 43 years. He was an Assistant District Attorney for Rapides Parish, a partner in Antoon, Dalrymple and Giordano Law Firm and later founded Giordano & Giordano Law Firm with his brother, Sam Charles.

Camille was a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association, Alexandria Bar Association, American Bar Association, La Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, and Central La Criminal Defense Lawyers Association and served as a Chairman on the Alexandria Civil Service Board. As a Rapides Parish Public Defender, he proudly served many years in the Juvenile Court System. As part of his cherished Italian heritage, he was a lifetime member of the Amerita Club and served in many capacities including board president.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife and best friend of 47 years, Catherine “Cathy” Cataldie Giordano; son, John Thomas Giordano, Sr. (Jodie); daughter, Anna Giordano Morvant (Mike); daughter-in-law, Kelli Giordano (J.D.); nine grandchildren, Jacob, Sophie, Hadie, John Thomas, Camille, Sadie, Michael, Madison, and Joseph; brother, Sam Charles Giordano, and uncle, Sammy Farace, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Pallbearers honored to serve will be Bro. Matthew Dial, David Distefano, J.D. Durand, Vincent Giambrone, Chad Parker and Darren Simms. Honorary pallbearers will be, Joe Dalrymple, Sammy Farace, Jacob Giordano, John Thomas Giordano, II, Sam Charles Giordano, Greg Gravel, Donald Medica, Michael Morvant, Michael Morvant, II, and Joseph Morvant.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Our Lady of Prompt Succor School at 420 21st Street, Alexandria, or to Holy Savior Menard Central High School at 4603 Coliseum Blvd #3518.
