Georgia man killed in Alexandria crash

ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) - A Georgia man is dead following a crash in Alexandria Friday night.

Louisiana State Police said Jarvis Jones, 28, was driving down a MacArthur Drive service road at Browns Bend Road, when a trooper witnessed Jones commit a traffic violation.

They said Jones' 2019 Toyota Camry turned westbound on LA Hwy 496 and rapidly accelerated.

As the trooper attempted to get closer, with the intent to stop the vehicle, he saw the Camry was traveling at a high rate of speed. Jones then lost control of the vehicle. He exited the right side of the roadway, collided with a utility pole and overturned.

Jones was pronounced dead at the scene. Routine toxicology tests are pending and the crash remains under investigation.
