Government shutdown impacting Kisatchie National Forest employees

RAPIDES, La. (KALB) - How is the shutdown impacting us here at home?

A source has told us that most of the 180 Kisatchie National Forest employees have been furloughed due to the shutdown.

Most of the Kisatchie National Forest's areas are closed as well, these include Valentine and Stuart Lake.

There are barricades blocking the entrances of the areas with signs that read:

"The U.S. Department of Agriculture Recreation site is currently closed, due to the lapse in federal government funding. The site will reopen once funding is restored."

All staff at the Pollock Federal Prison are expected to come to work and are not getting paid. They have stopped all training, and are now placed on furlough status.

All staff at the USDA Rural Development have been furloughed.
