Every Pre-K student in the parish enjoyed a day of pumpkin picking, music, and lunch with law enforcement.

According to GPSO, inmates plant pumpkin seeds months in advance to make sure harvest is right on time for Pumpkin Patch Day.

After picking their perfect pumpkin, the children decorated them, and finished the morning dancing to their favorite tunes like "Baby Shark", and "If You're Happy and You Know It".

GPSO said they hope the event shows the children that deputies and other law enforcement agents have their backs.

Jody Bullock, Warden of the detention facility said, "I think it's important these kids grow up seeing us as their friends, and seeing us as someone they can turn to."

This was the third year of the Pumpkin Patch Day.
