GRANT PARISH, La. (KALB) - Grant Parish classrooms were filled with students and smiles as they headed back to school Friday, luckily it wasn't a full day just yet.

We stopped by Montgomery High School and talked to Principal Michael Edwards who said it’s always an exciting time bringing in the new school year.

"We have a new ag teacher, a new jump-start credentials, a lot more classes through Northwestern and LC, which is more opportunities for our kids to acquire more credits towards college,” Edwards explained. “Given we are a rural parish, anything we can do to help them so that college becomes more financially feasible is always a good thing."

Next week we'll be checking in with Rapides, Vernon, and Avoyelles as they start their year off, too!
