A retired guardsman gets recognized for his service in the community. Master Sergeant (MSG) Richard Bullock, a former employee with National Guard's Youth Challenge Program (YCP) received high honors as he took home the Modern Woodmen of America Hometown Hero Award on Thursday.
The award recognizes individuals who exemplify outstanding service in the community. Bullock spoke about his time with the Youth Challenge Program, and how he tried to make an impact on the younger generation.
"I miss the Youth Challenge Program and working with the National Guard," Bullock said. "You get to see the end results [and] the positive things that come into the lives of young people. You get to see the results of your work every day."
The Youth Challenge Program helps mentor high school dropouts and helps them become productive members of society.
