Henderson man arrested for second degree murder after body found near Lecompte

ST. MARTINVILLE, La. (SMPSO) - An arrest has been made after authorities discovered the body of a deceased male off Highway 71 South near Lecompte on November 4.

The St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office, the Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office and the Henderson Police Department worked together to investigate the incident.

Investigators learned that on the evening of November 3, the suspect, identified as Alvin Jerome “Romeo” Lewis, 31, of Henderson, was in an altercation with the victim, Marcus Robicheaux, 32, of Arnaudville.

The altercation occurred inside a vehicle that was parked outside of a Henderson residence.

During the course of the altercation, Lewis fatally shot Robicheaux and fled the scene with Robicheaux in the victim's vehicle. Lewis then drove to a rural agricultural area near Lecompte in Rapides Parish where he abandoned the vehicle along with Robicheaux’s body.

Lewis was arrested on November 7 and charged with second-degree murder (felony), carrying of a firearm by a convicted felon (felony), and obstruction of justice (felony).

Following his arrest, he was booked into the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center and his bond was set at $200,000.
