Female filmmakers have been shut out, “Parasite” has made history and “Joker” has edged out all other films in this year's Academy Awards nominations. Todd Phillips' R-rated supervillain origin story leads all films with 11 nominations, including best picture.

“The Irishman,” “Once Upon a Time ... in Hollywood” and “1917 ” trail close behind with 10 nominations apiece.

For the 87th time, the academy selected all-male directing nominees. The nominations had some surprises, with Jennifer Lopez and Beyonce missing out on their first Oscar nominations.

The 92nd Academy Awards will be held on on Feb. 9 in Los Angeles and for the second year in a row will go without a host.
