Jury selection continues for Alexandria man charged with kidnapping, attempted rape

ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) - The final stages of jury selection began Wednesday morning at the Rapides Parish Courthouse for the trial of Richard Scott Dauzart, 39, of Alexandria. He was charged in January 2018 with second-degree kidnapping and attempted first-degree rape.

The charges come after Dauzart allegedly imprisoned the victim at her residence while physically injuring and sexually abusing her. He also allegedly attempted to engage in oral sexual intercourse without her consent. When she resisted, she was met with threats of great bodily harm.

Dauzart is being represented by Chad Guillot. The State is being represented by Special Prosecutor Hugo Holland along with Assistant District Attorney Christopher Bowman, with Judge Chris Hazel presiding.
