Justin Walters pleads 'not guilty' in rape, kidnapping arraignment

A Colfax man accused of rape, kidnapping, battery, assault, and other charges, pleaded "not guilty" at an arraignment Thursday morning.

Justin Walters, 56, of Colfax, was arrested on February 11, 2019, on drug charges. While in jail, the investigation continued, which led to his arrest on additional charges on May 1, 2019.

Walters' pretrial is set for November 14. His trial date is December 16.

District Attorney Jay Lemoine announced Wednesday that a Grant Parish Grand Jury indicted Walters on three counts of first degree rape, three counts of second degree kidnapping, three counts of domestic abuse battery (with strangulation), one count domestic abuse battery (with child endangerment), three counts of domestic abuse aggravated assault, and one count possession of controlled dangerous substances - methamphetamine.

Walters remains in jail under a $900,000 bond.
