Juveniles arrested following Acadia Parish fire


ACADIA PARISH, La. (Louisiana Office of State Fire Marshal) - The State Fire Marshal’s Office, in collaboration with Crowley Police Department, have arrested three teenagers for setting a fire inside of a baseball park bathroom.

On Saturday, April 13, a 15-year-old boy was arrested for one count each of simple arson and criminal damage to property. A second 15-year-old was arrested for one count of simple arson while a 12-year-old boy was arrested for one count of criminal damage to property. All three were released into the custody of their guardians. A 14-year-old present during the crimes was released without charges.

In the afternoon hours of the 12th, SFM deputies were called to a baseball park, located in the 700 block of West Mill Road in Crowley, to investigate the origin and cause of a fire inside of the men’s bathroom building.

After an assessment of the scene, investigators determined two toilet paper rolls were set on fire intentionally, while two toilet paper dispensers and two soap dispensers were ripped off of the walls.

Through witness statements and collaboration with Crowley Police, investigators identified the teens as suspects and brought them in for questioning.

In an interview with deputies, the teens admitted to setting the fires and damaging the property.
