The Knights of Peter Claver Inc. held their fourth annual Veterans of Valor event Saturday morning. Members of the Assembly #27 chapter met at the VA hospital in Pineville to pay the nation's heroes a visit.
Members of the organization emphasized the importance of spending time with veterans, and making sure they are not forgetten in the community.
"I think what's important to us is the relationship that we try to get with them," Tim Ford, a member of Assembly #27 said. "Shake hands and meet them, and also give them a token of appreciation...the hats, the food, is at best a minimum but the important thing for us is to be able to spend time with them, [and] let them know we care."
"We just want them to know that we haven't forgotten what they've done for us," Marjorie James, another member of Assembly #27 said. "So that's what we try to do give a little bit back to them, let them know just how important they are to us. Without them, we wouldn't have the freedom we have now."
During Saturday's event, the organization alos passed out hats that said "Thank a Vet."
