LSUA's Radiologic Technology Program receives re-accreditation

ALEXANDRIA, La. (LSUA) - LSUA is proud to announce the Radiologic Technology Program has received re-accreditation from the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT).

After submission of a self-study report, site visit, and evaluation by team, staff, and Board of Directors, the JRCERT awarded the Associate of Science in Radiologic Technology program the maximum of 8 years accreditation.

“This was a collaborative effort and I am very thankful for Sarah Barnes, Tess Myers, and Sandra Gremillion for all of their help. It is easier to have a great program when you have to support of administration and faculty,” said Melissa Whitley, Associate Professor and Program Coordinator.

The JRCERT is the only agency recognized by the United States Department of Education (USDE) and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) for the accreditation of traditional and distance delivery educational programs in radiography, radiation therapy, magnetic resonance, and medical dosimetry. Specialized accreditation awarded by the JRCERT offers institutions significant value by providing peer evaluation and by assuring the public of quality professional education in the radiologic sciences.

“The credit goes to Melissa Whitley and Sarah Barnes. I am so very proud of radiologic technology faculty and what they bring to our students on a daily basis. They are very dedicated and work untiringly to prepare students enrolled in the radiologic technology program for their chosen careers,” said Dr. Haywood Joiner, chair of the Department of Allied Health.
