La. National Guard soldiers return home after 9-month deployment

ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) - More than 70 soldiers with the Louisiana National Guard received a warm welcome at Million Air in Alexandria on Friday evening.

The soldiers of the 225th Engineer Brigade have returned after a nine-month deployment overseas.

The unit, named Task Force Castle, worked to improve the overall coalition readiness and provided operational and living areas, to improve life, health and safety measures for U.S. forces.

Family members couldn't even begin to contain their excitement!

“We saw him coming off the plane and tried to get at him as soon as possible. It’s been a long nine and a half months,” said Charlotte Allen, a parent of one of the soldiers.

“I have been waiting for quite some time for my son to come home,” said Donna Stevens, another parent. “Your heart skips a beat every time you hear something on the news. You hear it but you don't want to hear it. But, you're a proud mother that your son his serving his country.”
