Local SONIC employee grateful after winning national competition

PINEVILLE, La. (KALB) - SONIC Drive-In awarded local skating carhop Ryan Pierce the gold medal for his participation in the 2019 SONIC Skate-Off after competing against four other impressive skating carhops in the final competition last month.

All five finalists were recognized on stage and celebrated by thousands of SONIC franchisees and executives during SONIC's national convention in Austin, Texas on September 9.

Pierce works at the Pineville location at 3505 Monroe Highway. He said he's extremely grateful to be representing Central Louisiana.

"There's really no other Sonic like ours around here. Just to see one of our regulars that knows me by name and I know them by name and get to say good morning to them or goodnight, good evening, it's just a really cool environment to be around," said Pierce.

He also said he won by being himself and not holding anything back.

"I threw my personality out there, I gave them that southern hospitality and I was just being myself, as I do every day," said Pierce.

Pierce previously made it to the Skate-Off competition back in 2017. He said he plans to go back to mentor carhops in the 2020 competition.
