ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) - “Don’t read the labels,” is what Tony McDonald, the coordinator for Gallery One Ellleven in Leesville, said to attendees at Thursday night’s Renegade Tour at the Alexandria Museum of Art.

The goal of this event was to spread local art into the local community, especially by drawing in people who may not often find themselves in a museum.

McDonald showed attendees multiple pieces of art and talked about their context while also emphasizing the importance of forming personal opinions of the art.

Cindy Blair, an art educator at AMOA, was pleased with the turn out and believes that the event was successful in drawing people to the museum.

The Renegade tours are scheduled to take place quarterly, and there are several upcoming events at AMOA.
