Easter is just around the corner, and that means more and more people will be hunting eggs in the coming weeks. But what about the dogs?

Well, Tuesday was just the day for them. It was Easter in the Park for Pets at Compton Park in Alexandria.

It's an event hosted by Montgomery Animal Hospital. They invite all dogs, and their owners of course, to come down to celebrate the holiday with an egg hunt.

The rules are simple. If your dog shows interest in an egg, you get to put it in your basket. The dog that finds the most is the winner.

But, trick was getting your pup to stay focused on the prize, rather than the competitors.

It was $10 to participate, and all funds go toward the Boudreaux’s Animal Rescue Krewe, or B.A.R.K.

"There’s not really many community events where families can get out with their pets,” explained Kara Brown, Montgomery Animal Hospital. “So we decided to do this to help socialize pets and it's just been really fun, we did it last year. B.A.R.K. is a great organization in our community. They rehome hundreds of animals in our community each year. They're a no-kill shelter. All the proceeds will go to them. It just helps raise money for a great cause in our community."

Dogs could also get their picture taken with the Easter Bunny, and there were even doggy snow cones, with flavors like chicken broth, for the canines to enjoy.
