Local employee arrested for allegedly stealing from business

RAPIDES PARISH, La. (RPSO) - An Alexandria woman was arrested for theft after allegedly stealing money from a local business.

Deputies with RPSO received a complaint on August 26 that an employee, Kathy Lynn Walker, 60, issued herself additional payroll checks without the consent of her employer, totaling an excess of approximately $70,000.

The discrepancy was discovered during a recent audit and it is believed the crimes took place over an extended amount of time.

Detectives were able to establish sufficient probable cause that supported the original allegations. A warrant was issued for Walker’s arrest in reference to theft over $25,000.

On September 13, Walker was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center on the active warrants. She was released later that day on a $1,000 bond.
