PINEVILLE, La. (KALB) - Some local gym-goers used this weekend to give back to veterans in need.
Down at CrossFit 28 in Pineville, folks showed up for a 24-hour workout.
It started at 10 on Saturday morning and there were different groups of exercises every hour until 9 on Sunday morning. Of course, there was down time in between sets.
To participate attendees had to make a donation to Mission 22. It's an organization that helps veterans returning from overseas cope with PTSD or depression.
One gym trainer said it was humbling to see so many people come to support the cause.
"Just the whole suicide, mental illness thing, it's been hitting home lately,” expressed Troy Folse. “I've been hearing a lot of things. So we want to do something to help somebody to have the resources when someone reaches out. We want to make sure this organization is funded in some sort of way, however we can help, to help those people who need it."
A lot of the attendees came and went throughout the 24-hour cycle, participating in only some of the workouts. However, there were quite a few who stayed in the entire time.
