ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) - Some local men fired up the grills and had a cookout downtown on Saturday afternoon.
It was the 19th Annual Men Who Cook fundraiser.
It’s an event put on by the River Oaks Arts Center. People came by to get some good food and drinks, all provided by teams of up to five members.
The teams are made up of friends, businesses, or even caterers. The event usually brings in around 600 guests, and coordinators tell us it’s an important event for the Arts Center.
"It invites a non-traditional audience to River Oaks Arts Center and it gets a lot of community members involved,” said Rachael Dauzat, ROAC. “Foodies, food enthusiasts, those who love to cook, and those who love to eat. And it's just a great event."
The event is also a cook off, and the winners get the signature spoon and of course bragging rights for the next year.
