In just four months, James 2 Ministry has raised $60,000 towards the transitional home.

Director of Ministries Tapas Sarma said keeping inmates out of the system once they're released is the main goal.

Right now, due to funding, the ministry is focusing on just men but has plans to work with female inmates in the near future.

"We are hoping to open a house where we will house them for free, and we will provide them education, training, medical care, mental health, and scripture,” Sarma explained. “This is a Christian ministry. We will operate on biblical principles only, all denominations included and we would like to provide their transitional process for these inmates so they don't go back to prison. We want them to become a productive citizen, a good husband, good father, good uncle, good family member and a role model eventually."
