Louisiana-based National Guard unit to deploy to Iraq

The Louisiana Army National Guard's 832nd Engineer Detachment, 528th Engineer Battalion, 225th Engineer Brigade, based in Plaquemine, is deploying to Iraq.
A deployment ceremony was held Wednesday morning at the Carl F. Grant Civic Center in Plaquemine.
About 50 guardsmen in the 832nd are headed to Iraq for between nine and 12 months.
Officials said they will "support ongoing operations with general engineering and construction assets."
